Petrified wood is a fossil that is formed when trees or other plant material get buried by layers of sediment, mud, ash from volcanoes, or other material. Once buried, the muck on top deprives the wood of oxygen and organisms. Water, rich in dissolved solids, then flows through the sediment and replaces the original plant material with silica, calcite, pyrite, or other inorganic material such as opal.
Etruscans, ancient ancestors of Italy, used petrified wood to create handmade religious objects.
Said to soothe emotions, generate calmness, and dispel stress. It is believed when petrified wood is near, all your fears will simply disappear and you will be filled with feelings of security.
