Smoky quartz is a brown to black variety of quartz. Many historical sources called it “smoked quartz” instead, after its resemblance to smoke cured foods. Since natural irradiated color develops slowly below certain temperatures, smoky quartz tends to be found in specific environments like higher elevations where it had time to slowly darken.
Pieces of quartz have been found in the 8,000 year old Egyptian Temple of Hathor.
Some believe that its properties work to reconnect us to the earth, helping us to balance and move on from difficult or painful experiences. It helps manifest our dreams into reality.
